Micronesia Climate Change Alliance

Moñeka is a proud indigenous Chamorro/CHamoru daughter (Jeje, Lazaru and Calvo clans) of the Mariana Islands currently living in Saipan. As a mother, organizer and educator she is motivated to protect all that is sacred from unsustainable development and militarization for future generations.

Moñeka is the Co-Executive Director of the Micronesia Climate Change Alliance where she builds solutions for resilience and self determination of large ocean states of Micronesia. She creates meaningful multimedia resources to perpetuate living more holistically and sustainably. These resources include information on climate justice, food sovereignty, disaster preparedness, just recovery, energy democracy, traditional island knowledge, and zero waste. Moñeka envisions an interdependent, peaceful and prosperous world made possible through indigenous knowledge, women in leadership and a Just Transition. Her work has been uplifted through fellowships and leadership development programs with Young Pacific Leaders, Women Earth Alliance, Climate Justice Alliance, NDN Collective, MIT Solve and the New’s School Tishman Center.
