Mission
To foster authentic cross-sector relationships to advance the progress of the environmental movement toward a just transition to equitable funding. We shift power and resources from institutions to grassroots leadership as we transform the environmental movement.

Vision
We envision a world where even the most marginalized communities are protected from the disparate effects of environmental and climate disasters, where health and livelihoods are restored, and communities are thriving. A world where environmental justice organizations are key players in decision-making spaces, and have the power, resources and influence to ensure equity is front and center of climate mitigation and ecological solutions.

A Unified Movement
Our innovative approach prioritizes building cross-sector alignment and uplifting community-based solutions, laying the foundation for a united movement. Together, we build and amplify collective power to advance equitable solutions to the climate crisis and create lasting systemic change.
Our Values
At BEA, we exist and operate at the intersection of three sectors, navigating the tensions and opportunities within them. Grounded in the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing, we work toward a collective vision of environmental justice through principled struggle. Our organizational values guide how we show up—both internally in our relationships and culture, and externally in the world we seek to transform. These values are not just aspirations; they are commitments that shape our actions, ensuring that the justice we work for externally is also reflected in how we operate internally.
HARMONY with MOTHER EARTH: We honor Mother Earth by leading with respect in our relationships with both the land and one another. Recognizing our interconnectedness and interdependence, we commit to stewardship, justice, and care for all living beings.
SOLIDARITY with FRONTLINE LEADERSHIP: We honor the self-determination of BIPOC communities and stand with the leadership of grassroots-led organizations. We especially prioritize the communities our membership represent.
EQUITY: We commit to dismantling systemic barriers and reshaping funder dynamics while nourishing grassroots organizations that are paving the way for an equitable, just, and sustainable present and future.
TRANSFORMATIVE RELATIONSHIPS: We cultivate deep, reciprocal relationships that strengthen our movement and advance our collective work. By moving beyond transactional interactions, we build the trust and solidarity needed for the future we want.
COMMUNAL CARE: We recognize care as a collective responsibility and prioritize individual and communal commitment to relationships, mutual support, and shared well-being. By integrating well-being practices into our work and our strategies, we help build stronger, more resilient communities committed to lasting transformation.
HOPE: We believe in the power of community-driven solutions and the possibility of a just and better world. Our commitment to transparency and mutual accountability grounds our belief that systemic change is not only necessary but achievable.
