Lamisa Chowdhury is the daughter of Bangladeshi immigrants and grew up in rural Kansas, where her passion for environmental justice took root. She holds a degree from the University of Kansas and began her career partnering with community organizations on climate, energy efficiency, and advocacy initiatives.

Today, Lamisa is the Thriving Communities Program Officer at Patagonia in Los Angeles, CA, where she supports frontline communities in not just surviving climate disruption, but building powerful, resilient futures.

Previously based in Washington, D.C., she managed the Affordable Housing Retrofit Accelerator at the DC Sustainable Energy Utility, improving energy performance and health outcomes for residents across the district. She also served as Managing Director of NEWHAB, advancing intersectional solutions around housing, water, and energy justice, and was Interim Deputy Director at the Natural Resources Defense Council, helping shape national strategies for climate-resilient, equitable communities.

Lamisa is currently a PLACES Fellow with The Funders Network and was named a 2024 Future Climate Leader by the Aspen Institute.
