BEA's Left Out by Design series (Old Power, New Tools and History and Misconceptions of AI) has established a critical frame: AI is not about technology, it's about power. This discussion advances that work, moving from analysis to evidence, as part of BEA's work to Build Cross-Sector Alignment on AI, Climate Philanthropy, and Environmental Justice. 

Building on concerns about concentrated corporate control, extractive infrastructure, and the gap between AI's promises and its real-world impacts, BEA members Alternatives for Community and Environment and New Mexico Environmental Law Center with Hive Fund for Climate and Gender Justice brought those issues into sharp focus through frontline testimony and case studies of resourcing resistance.
